Across the United States, homeowners, business owners and shingle installation crews spend between $30 and $100+ per ton to dispose of asphalt shingle debris. As estimated 10 million tons of shingles are disposed of in the US annually. Almost 100% of the shingles discarded become landfill waste. Filling landfills with recyclable materials is a waste of energy and damaging to the environment.
According to the Construction Materials Recycling Association™ (CMRA), Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS) are a suitable material for use in Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) due to the high quality asphalt used in their original manufacturing process. The use of RAS in HMA is endorsed and encouraged by the National Asphalt Paving Association™ (NAPA).
